Maurizio Piovan , an exquisitely abstract artist, frequented the workshops of Expressionist masters in the 1960s, a very lively current almost a revolution, including that of Emilio Vedova in Venice. His painting is not scathing, restless and aggressive like that of Pollock or Vedova himself, but elegant transparent in which a very calm and relaxing vision of reality emerges even when he uses strong colors such as red or black. Piovan in the long years of his career has exhibited and participated in many art exhibitions both in Italy and abroad in which he is particularly appreciated for his non-strictly figurative painting.

Maurizio Piovan is a contemporary Venetian artist, born in 1953.
His painting matured in the 70s, a historical period of great ferment and epochal changes.
His painting is energy, influenced by the current of abstract expressionism in which language is expressed through multi-material works, whose aesthetic value lies essentially in color.
